Agricultural Engineering in Ethiopia

Impact and Collaboration

The Ethiopian Society of Agricultural Engineers (ESAE) is a dynamic organization dedicated to advancing the field of agricultural engineering in Ethiopia. We unite professionals from diverse backgrounds – academics, researchers, industry leaders, and government officials – to collaborate on solutions for the challenges facing Ethiopian agriculture.

Our collective expertise fosters innovation, leading to more sustainable and efficient farming practices that enhance food security and improve the livelihoods of Ethiopian farmers. Through regular conferences, workshops, and publications, the ESAE provides a platform for knowledge sharing and professional development. We actively engage in research and advocacy, working to influence policy and promote best practices across the agricultural sector. Our members are at the forefront of developing innovative technologies and strategies to address the complex issues of climate change, water scarcity, and soil degradation.

We believe that by working together, we can build a more resilient and prosperous agricultural future for Ethiopia.

Our History

The journey of ESAE from establishment to becoming Ethiopia's leading agricultural engineering society

2021

Establishment

The Ethiopian Society of Agricultural Engineers was founded by a group of visionary agricultural engineers recognizing the need for a professional body to unite practitioners, researchers, and educators across Ethiopia.

2022

First National Conference

Successfully organized the inaugural national conference in Addis Ababa, bringing together over 200 agricultural engineers from universities, research institutions, government agencies, and private sector.

2023

Membership Growth

Expanded membership to over 100 professionals and established partnerships with international agricultural engineering societies, including Pan African Society of Agricultural Engineers (PASA) and KSAE (Kenyan Society of Agricultural Engineers).

2024

Technical Committees

Formed specialized technical committees in mechanization, irrigation, post-harvest, soil and water engineering, and precision agriculture to address sector-specific challenges and opportunities.

2025

Third Annual Conference
